6 Tips for Creating Enticing Food Menus

Barry Packaging is excited to announce that we have recently introduced a new service to our customers! We now offer the option to order stock and branded food containers for all restaurants’ take-away needs. To commemorate this new milestone, we wanted to offer a few tips to our current and potential food chain clients on how to present your menu in the best possible way. After all, the more enticing your menu looks, the higher the chances someone takes another meal home to go in your new food containers.

Tip #1: Consider a One-Sheet

Sometimes the menus that leave the biggest impressions are the simplest. A one-sheet laminated menu is the perfect way to allow customers to have a perfect overview of all the menu items at once, helping each item stand out in it’s own way rather than being lost in the shuffle of many pages.

Tip #2: Spread out the Typography

Too many lines of small text can make a menu hard to absorb, so breaking things up with grids, ribbons, banners, and dividers are some of the ways one can spread out text while still helping the menu stand out.

Tip # 3: Go the Extra Mile with Your Photos

Photos of the food you sell have a huge impact on your sales. Poorly taken photos can make menus look older, as well as deterring customers from taking a chance on a new item. Pay attention to lighting, use a little bit of Photoshop if necessary, and don’t settle for the first shot you take.

Tip #4: Try and Stay Minimal

Minimal and simplistic menu designs are a perfect way to make your restaurant look more modern (and expensive in taste). In these cases, using a folded menu book of high quality material also helps complete this upscale appeal.

Tip #5: Go for Hand-Drawn Graphics

On the other side of the token, restaurants that want to look trendy or off-kilter can do a lot with menus that has a hand-drawn aesthetic. These kinds of menus can make a distinct impression on customers, just make sure to stay away from bright colors as this can make your menu look kiddish.

On the same token, you can also try adding some doodles to the menu design for a fun and poppy look. Utilizing chalk color effects and black and white coloring helps pull off this look in spades.

Tip #6: Make a Novelty Menu

Transforming your menu into a novelty menu is becoming a very popular trend in restaurants, especially those that are marketing to millennials. Many different novelty ideas such as post cards, newspapers, cookbooks, and magazines have been used in the past to make a truly unique menu for your restaurant.

So with these new menu tips, we hope that your creative juices flow and that you consider using Barry Packaging for your next custom food container order. We would love to help you excel with your restaurant and help customers take home a reminder of their dining experience. It’s all about the details and we’re happy to be part of your restaurant’s narrative.
