‘Popular’ Welsh bag tax takes force in 200 days In 200 days’ time Wales will become the first UK country to introduce a charge for ‘single-use’ carrier bags. A minimum charge of five pence will be introduced on 1 October. The move is part of the Assembly Government’s goal of reducing the number of carrier bags given out to shoppers.
